Republican Ohio Governor Mike DeWine revealed on Monday that there has been a recent spate of bomb threats, including City of Springfield These are all “deceptions”, some of which originate from “a particular country” abroad.
The 77-year-old governor told reporters on Monday that law enforcement had acted on at least 33 separate cases. Bomb threats made against Springfield The city made national headlines due to overcrowding in government offices, schools and medical centres.
“33 threats; 33 deceptions,” DeWine said during a press conference in Springfield. “I want to make that very, very clear. There was no legitimacy to any of this.”
The governor indicated that these threats were being made by foreign elements.
“Unfortunately we have people overseas who are taking these steps,” DeWine said. “Some of them are coming from a particular country.”
The governor declined to name the country, but Russia And Iran US authorities have accused both of trying to influence the outcome of the 2024 presidential election.
“We think this is another opportunity to mess with the United States,” DeWine said of the foreign actors making the threats. “And they’re continuing to do that.”
“We can't let the bad guys win. Our schools must stay open,” he said, adding that additional law enforcement resources would be deployed to Springfield amid the surge of threats.
“The people who are doing this are doing it to sow discord in our community,” said Ohio Department of Public Safety Director Andy Wilson. “We can't let them do that. We can't let them do that. We have to continue to provide the services that the citizens of Springfield and Clark County expect.”

Springfield City Manager Brian Heck has said there have been “no credible reports of specific claims of harm, injury, or abuse of pets by individuals within the immigrant community.”
The city has canceled its upcoming annual festival of diversity, arts and culture in light of the growing threats, officials said Monday.
