A salty gunman will spend at least nine years behind bars for shooting a stranger in the face after he refused to share his potato chips at an Ohio strip club.
Melvin Wright Jr., 43, was sentenced Monday to nine to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder and other related charges for the non-fatal shooting on Nov. 28, 2023, according to the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich said, “Summit County is safer without Melvin Wright on our streets.”
“Senseless violence has no place in Akron, and I am grateful that the survivor of this crime continues his courageous recovery.”
The maniac approached the 31-year-old victim at Lusty Adventure, a strip club in Akron, around 9 p.m. and asked for some of his chips.
Prosecutors said the victim, who did not know the gunman, refused.
The snack-loving maniac followed the victim to his car and shot him in the face.
Prosecutors said the victim drove himself to Summa Health Akron City Hospital and survived the shooting after six days of treatment.
Wright was busted the next day when officers saw him boarding a Metro bus at the transit center on South Broadway Street, According to the Akron Beacon Journal.
Police also confiscated a handgun that was found on Wright during his arrest.
Wright pleaded guilty to attempted murder, possession of a weapon while under disability and illegal possession of a firearm.
In addition to his prison sentence, Wright is required to register as a violent offender each year for 10 years after his release.
