An Ohio man has been sentenced to a hefty fine following a high-profile deer hunting case.
Christopher J., 28, of Wilmington, Clinton County. Alexander was sentenced to six months in prison and ordered to pay a $43,000 fine in November 2023 for illegally harvesting an 18-point, white-tailed deer — a trophy animal considered a valuable state natural resource. , Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said.

“Hunting in Ohio is a time-honored tradition, and a reasonable way to be safe and successful,” Yost said. “When bad actors like these guys try to cheat the system, it ruins the reputations of Ohio’s respected sportsmen and women – I can’t stand for that.”
Alexander, a ringleader, pleaded guilty last October to 14 other charges — all misdemeanors, including hunting violations, fraud, backlighting and selling wildlife parts, authorities said.
In addition to the fine and prison sentence, Alexander was sentenced to five years of community control and his hunting license revoked for 10 years.
They also confiscated all property seized as evidence, including trophy deer antlers.
According to investigators, Alexander was aided in his crimes by his sister, Christina M. Alexander, as well as Corey and Zachary Hohnert.
The three entered plea agreements on October 15 and have since been sentenced to penalties including fines, community service and license revocation.
