An Oklahoma couple was arrested this month after their two young boys were found covered in feces in a home so horrific that officers had to wear hazardous clothing when entering the home, according to police.
On September 12, three children under the age of five were rescued from the rebel home and Dakota Dodd, 24, and Aubriana Freeman, 22, were taken into custody on charges of child neglect.
Oklahoma City police said officers responded to the home after a concerned neighbor called. Dodd led police to a bedroom, where dried feces was reportedly found on the bodies of the 3- and 4-year-old children.
“Feces on the walls, feces on the kids. It was an absolutely disgusting scene,” said Oklahoma City Police Master Sergeant Gary Knight told KOCO.
“When they got inside, officers reported they were almost stunned by the smell of feces and urine inside the home.”
According to the police report, the young victims had feces stuck to their “nails, palms of their hands, feet, legs and faces.” obtained by law and crime.
According to the outlet, the report details the horrific condition of the entire home, including “piles of human feces” on the second floor and a bedroom floor “covered with multiple piles of human feces.”
Because conditions were so gruesome, investigators wore hazmat suits while examining the crime scene, KOCO reports.
Dodd, who is reportedly the boys' stepfather, reportedly admitted to police that he kept the children locked in a dirty room for more than 12 hours a day so their mother, Freeman, could sleep and “to keep the kids safe because of the neighborhood,” News 9 reported, Citing the police report.
The 11-month-old girl, who is Dodd's biological daughter, was also removed from the home, the station reported.
The neighbor who reported the alleged neglect told News 9 she saw the boys naked in the window.
“He looked at me as if to say help me,” Barbara North said.
“They would have feces on their face, hands and mouth,” North said.
Dodd and Freeman have been charged with five counts of child neglect, Law & Crime reports.
