New York magazine politics correspondent Olivia Nuzzi's partner, POLITICO's Ryan Lizza, confirmed in a commentary about the ongoing controversy surrounding Olivia's alleged affair with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. that the two have called off their engagement.
Liza, 50, addressed rumors of Nuzzi’s alleged relationship with the former presidential candidate. PM's statement published in Politico Friday afternoon.
The comment read, “Because of my connection to this story through my ex-fiancée, my editors and I have agreed that I will not be involved in any coverage of Kennedy in Playbook or Politico.”
As per their social media, Liza and Nuzzi got engaged in September 2022 in Italy.
It's unclear how long the two dated, but photos of them together surfaced on Nuzzi's Instagram as early as January 2018 — just a month after Lizza was fired from The New Yorker amid sexual misconduct allegations.
Nuzzi, 31, was placed on leave after she confessed “that she had engaged in a personal relationship with a former subject related to the 2024 campaign while she was reporting on the campaign, a violation of the magazine’s standards regarding conflicts of interest and disclosure,” New York magazine announced Thursday.
The man’s name was later revealed to be RFK Jr., and sources told the Post that the pair had been sexting around New Year’s.
Nuzzi did not name the Kennedy scion in his statement, in which he acknowledged that earlier this year “the nature of some communications between me and a former reporting subject became personal.”
He claimed the relationship was never physical.
A spokesman for Kennedy denied the rumors, saying the married father of six had met Nuzzi “only once in his life” when he introduced her to New York magazine last fall.
