Panchayat is the kind of show that will make everyone laugh. We’re talking hard-to-impress teenage boys and even a cantankerous grandmother. With Neena Gupta’s infectious humour as Manju Devi and Jitendra Kumar’s baffled reactions as Abhishek Tripathi, Panchayat, which was released on Amazon Prime Video in 2020, emerged as one of India’s most beloved shows. After a successful second instalment last year, season three is expected to air on the streamer soon.
The second season of the Shahid Kapoor-starrer Farzi, one of the most streamed web series of 2023, is also slated for a release in the first half of 2024. Overseas, the highly anticipated third season of Bridgerton, the steamy period drama that blew up Netflix, is set to release in two parts in May. Squid Game, which garnered a cult following, is also revving up for a sequel this year. While the exact release dates for all the titles are yet to be disclosed, we round up below the most highly awaited web series sequels to look out for in 2024.
Panchayat 3, Squid Game 2, Mirzapur 3 & 7 other sequels of popular web series to watch out for in 2024
1. Squid Game, Season 2
The dystopian thriller series hit our screens in September 2021 and we still can’t stop thinking about it. The show, which saw 456 people fight to the death (literally) in six children’s games over six days to win $38 million, became Netflix’s biggest-ever series launch. The new season will see Gi-Hun, the only survivor from season one, return to the battleground and ready (or not) to meet a whole new host of life-or-death challenges. While an official date hasn’t been disclosed yet, season two of Squid Game is expected to release in the second half of the year. Until then, the creators have attempted to whet the audience’s appetite with a Squid Game: The Challenge reality-TV competition, which is engaging enough, but doesn’t completely hit the spot.
2. Farzi, Season 2
