The classic mall Santa photo shoot is a tradition that’s been passed down for generations — but these days, parents are opting for something less traditional.
Instead of having their kids sit on mall Santa’s lap for a quick snapshot, moms in New Orleans are booking private studio sessions with jolly, old Saint Nick for a professional photoshoot.
“I think young parents are craving a more personalized experience,” said Marianne Sabrier, co-owner of The Red M Studio in Metairie. told Axios,
In addition to having a personal moment with Santa, these studio sessions are promoted as more convenient and meaningful than going to the mall.
Sabrier and her husband, Steve, are wedding and lifestyle photographers who started offering studio time four years ago after hearing about experiences available in Texas for $1,000.
At the time, the two offered 10-minute sessions for $200, during which Santa would read a child’s letter that was sent in advance by a parent.
