The countdown to Christmas has now officially begun, and that means only one thing – the advent calendar.
Like everything else, advent calendars are quite expensive Unless you’re going the traditional chocolate route (and even that will cost you a pretty penny!).
So, one mom has come up with a solution that will not only save your money but will also guarantee you some quality time with your little ones.
unique idea
Mother Corinne adopts TikTok To display a special advent calendar created for your children.
“Preparing for our favorite Christmas tradition 🎄,” she captioned the video.
In it you can watch Corinne collect, wrap, and decorate 24 Christmas-themed books.
Each of them is numbered from one to 24, to be opened and read together each day until the big day.
“We reuse the same set of Christmas books every year,” she explained in her caption.
“I love that it’s so easy and promotes spending time together.”
“I like it!”
Moms in the comments were quick to praise Corinne’s idea, saying they’ll be jumping on the bandwagon this Christmas.
“I definitely need to do this! My kid loves books,” one commenter said.
“Was thinking all week what to do this year and that’s it!!!” Said another.
“Oh, I love it! I was looking for a non-chalk advent calendar” said one.
“I love it, I want to do this for my boys this year,” said a fourth.
Others suggested their own similar ideas to save even more money.
“Would it be weird to wrap library books? (Then definitely return them)” one suggested.
“Another way to save money is to get books from an op shop, if you don’t mind it being Christmas themed,” said another.
“If you like the idea but can’t afford that many books you can buy an advent calendar with mini books for about $20.” The third one said.
Another suggested, “You can buy them at a discounted price after Christmas this year and next year too.”
Or, try this!
If your little ones aren’t so keen on books, but you’re looking to make your own DIY advent calendar this year, maybe give this idea a try.
TikTok creator @emilycarriveau shared how she created her own box last year using a tackle box, filling it with anything her kids wanted.
“It’s 24 boxes, which means it’s the perfect box,” she said.
“You guys can fill your advent calendar with whatever you want – hot chocolate pods, Nespresso, toys and trinkets, money. The bottom line is, it’s all going to fit!”
