“I know cowardice when I see it.”



AUSTIN, Texas — Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggests former President Trump could skip election Upcoming Presidential Debate because of “cowardice,” but the GOP candidate's campaign insisted she was simply attempting to spread “fake news.”

Pelosi appeared at the Texas Tribune Festival over the weekend, where she spoke with journalist Kara Swisher about a variety of topics before signing copies of her latest book.

Pelosi spent much of the time criticizing Trump and taking a sharp stance on Tuesday's highly-anticipated election. ABC News Presidential Debate Came.

Swisher asked Pelosi what advice she would give former President Trump ahead of his face-off with Harris.

Pelosi, 84, quipped, “You think he'll come?”

As Pelosi smiled slightly, the mostly liberal audience began laughing, followed by applause.

Swisher asked, “Do you know something I don't know?”

“I recognize cowardice when I see it,” Pelosi responded.

Swisher then said he thought Pelosi would agree. Former Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheneywho called Trump a “misogynistic pig” on the same stage during a previous Trib Fest event.

Pelosi said of Cheney, “Isn't she wonderful?”

Earlier in the conversation, Pelosi told Swisher that “speaker emerita” is her current title, but “speaker” will remain her title.

The Trump campaign dismissed Pelosi's suggestion that the former president would not attend the debate as “fake news.”

“Nancy Pelosi has no idea what she's talking about and has been a proven liar and a fraud. If she's not busy giving herself fake titles to make herself feel better, she's spreading fake news because that's the only thing she's ever done,” Trump spokesman Steven Cheung told Fox News Digital.

Pelosi and Trump have a long history of hostility toward one another, and have regularly sniped at one another over the past several years.

In 2020, Pelosi tore up a printed copy of Trump's State of the Union address. He made this remark shortly after addressing a joint session of Congress.

Trump and Harris are scheduled to debate Tuesday night in Philadelphia.
