He dared to dream.
A former stuntwoman in Britain has been turned away 48 years after sending in a job application – but that hasn’t stopped her from building a remarkable career that has taken her all over the world.
“I always wondered why I never heard back about the job. Now I know why,” Tizzy Hodson, 70, told the BBC,
She further added, “How they found me when I have changed homes about 50 times and even moved to another country four or five times is a mystery.” “It means a lot to me to get it back after all this time.”
This courageous woman from Lincolnshire, England, was told that her handwritten cover letter, sent in January 1976, had been sitting in the post office for so long and was allegedly found stuck in the back of a drawer.
“Every day I looked for my post but there was nothing there and I was very disappointed because I really wanted to become a stunt rider on motorcycles.”
Hodson’s ill-fated job application as a stunt motorcyclist was returned with an unsigned, handwritten note that read, “Late delivery by Staines Post Office. found behind the draw [sic]“Only about 50 years of delay.”
Nevertheless, according to the BBC, Hodgson continued to live, work, and pursue other notable interests in Africa, including being a snake catcher, cunning pilot, and horse whisperer.
“I remember very well sitting in my flat in London typing the letter,” said Hodgson, who was “very careful” not to reveal her gender identity to employers at the time. “I thought I wouldn’t even have a chance to get an interview.”
“I also foolishly told them that it didn’t matter how many bones I broke because I was used to it,” she said.
Still, his promise to endure the injury for the sake of the job was justified.
“I’ve had a great time in life, even if I have some broken bones.”
