When there is movement in our universe, there is movement within us too. This understanding was left to us by the great figure Hermes Trismegistus, who is believed to have expressed, “As above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul.” Each planetary change reflects a readiness for change from within ourselves. As Pluto’s transit into Aquarius becomes imminent, we welcome a new and emerging era into our lives, individually and collectively.
How long will Pluto remain in Aquarius?
Pluto will enter Aquarius on November 19, 2024, where it will remain for the next 19 years.
What does Pluto in Aquarius mean to you?
We can’t know exactly what these next two decades will bring, although we can hypothesize by looking at astrological archetypes and turning to history for insight. Pluto was last in Aquarius about 248 years ago, in 1777 and 1778. You may remember from your history lessons what happened then.
If we know anything about astrology, it’s that every transit desires growth. And if we know anything about Pluto, we know that its strongest ability is empowerment.
Known as the “outer planet” in astrology, Pluto is slow to change. It and the other outer planets, including Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus, represent large expanses of time, sometimes years or decades. They cooperate with us at individual and collective levels. As they move forward, we feel the change deeply as part of the foundation on which we have built our everyday existence.
As these planets transition into a new sign, we can expect societal changes such that our collective thoughts, social structures, and shared consciousness will change.
Pluto is ours Planet Of metamorphosis, growth and transformation. It has to do with truth and power and recognizing what’s going on beyond the surface. It explores repressed and unconscious aspects of the self for conscious awareness, self-recovery and empowerment. Planet of depth, it thrives on vulnerability, intimacy and realness. It seeks to strip away everything that keeps us from experiencing authenticity with ourselves, others, and life itself.
Aquarius The amount of pattern change. This is a sign of successes. It is visionary, sweeping and obsessed with innovation and the way we imagine what is yet to come. It is our higher mind and contribution to society, and it seeks liberation and development for all.
A humanitarian at heart, Aquarius supports just about everything. By being deeply aware of our interconnectedness, it embodies community and social progress in a way that may initially seem contradictory. Since Aquarius is also a symbol of individuality, it separates itself from the collective mind so it can hear its own path, heed its own calling, and free itself from thought patterns, belief systems, and more. From this liberated state, Aquarius reaches where it was always meant to be – able to see the vast possibilities waiting for us all and bring growth to humanity through its very existence.
So Pluto in Aquarius comes with a poignant reminder for this next era of our lives – a free and open group made up of free and liberated individuals.
Your Invitation to Pluto in Aquarius
As Pluto moves from Capricorn, where it has been since 2008, it shifts from earth to air. This element represents consciousness and thought – things we cannot physically touch. Air expands. It gets faster. And it encourages us to leave behind what is stagnant and heavy as we turn our awareness toward greater movement and spiritual expansion.
Both of these ideals remind us that collective change starts from within each individual. While Aquarius looks to the highest reality and possibility for all of us, Pluto explores the shadow and unconscious material that hinders our expansion. While Aquarius desires liberation, Pluto illuminates all the places within us that are not free.
Pluto wants us to look into the eyes of that which has disempowered us so that we can take our power back. The planet, which rules the themes of control and power, brings to light any space within our shadow that attempts to control others, situations, or outcomes. It invites us to trace the origins of this impulse and see where it comes from and what resides beneath it so that we can begin to unravel its hold on us with honesty and compassion.
From this place, we can all contribute to the reality of collective freedom. We cannot change the collectivity, or even serve the collectivity, without examining what exists within us, conscious and unconscious, and what our thoughts, ideas, feelings, movements, desires and actions Guides and informs.
Pluto in Aquarius also reminds us of the power of thought, words, and frequency. It reminds us that the future is created through our thoughts and internal narratives and the way we allow hope into our souls. Aquarius is a vehicle for the future, collapsing time and bringing it into the present, merging what is with what has the potential to be so that we can begin to live within it.
This time offers immense potential for personal growth, encouraging exploration and boundary-pushing for what we have thought possible for ourselves. It provides us with the space to free ourselves from the collective noise of what is not ours so that we can commit to what is. It welcomes new perspectives, challenges boundaries and embraces inner authority.
We can choose to intentionally work with these possibilities and invitations to create a new stream of awareness from our unconscious underworld to higher levels of consciousness. Here it can be transformed and offered as knowledge for the highest good of all.
