Prince Harry paid tribute to his late mother Princess Diana during his visit to New York City.
The Duke of Sussex, 40, spoke on a panel on Monday. diana awardis a non-profit organisation founded in 1997 following the death of the late princess at the age of 36.
Harry, who was 12 when his mother died, joined Diana Award CEO Dr Tessy Ojo and two other recipients of the award in a panel discussion on the mental health challenges facing young people today.
“I know my mum would be so proud of you guys, not just you, but all of the award winners,” Harry said. told the group on stage with him.
“One of the reasons we're here today is mental health,” he said. “The fact is it affects all of us from the top to the bottom, from the smallest to the largest. I think you guys are playing a leading role in breaking down the stigma so that these conversations can continue.”
Harry added, “The courage you have gives me hope, because every single one of us needs courage to truly make a difference and create positive change in today's world, perhaps now more than ever.”
“So thank you guys for giving me, and probably a lot of people in this room, hope, and now we need to listen — listen continuously — and then act on the advice and the vision that you have, because otherwise it’s your future that’s being stolen from you, and that’s unacceptable.”
Harry is scheduled to attend a number of events during his stay in New York, while his wife Meghan Markle is at home in Montecito, California with their two children.
On Sunday, he attended a charity dinner hosted by the World Health Organization honoring survivors of childhood violence. He met with Queen Mathilde of Belgium and actor Forest Whitaker, among others.
Before flying across the country, Harry attended One805LIVE!'s fall charity concert at Kevin Costner's beachside estate in Carpinteria, California.
There, Harry greeted Richard Marx and told him “awesome” as the 61-year-old musician performed at a concert to raise money in support of Santa Barbara County first responders.

Harry and Markle's IG account, @sussexroyalThey have been inactive since March 2020, two months after the couple announced their decision to step down as senior royals.
Differences between Harry and William, 42, have emerged since Harry criticized the royal family in his and his wife’s 2021 interview with Oprah, his “Harry & Meghan” Netflix docuseries and his memoir, “Spare.”
The brothers came face to face at a service in London last month to commemorate Diana's brother-in-law Lord Robert Fellowes, but did not speak to each other.
After completing his duties in New York, Harry will return to the UK, where he will be chief guest at the WellChild Awards in London on September 30.
Harry last visited his home country for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, but he didn't spend time with any members of his estranged family.
Markle, meanwhile, has no interest in returning to the UK due to tensions with her in-laws.
