Prince William was all smiles as he stepped out for the first time after the news of his wife Kate Middleton testing positive for cancer broke.
The 42-year-old Prince of Wales looked dapper, sporting a beard as he was greeted by cheering crowds outside a school in Wales on Tuesday.
Despite the strong winds, well-wishers shared their messages of support for Middleton, 42, who revealed on Monday that she has completed chemotherapy treatments and is now cancer-free.
William thanked fans for their kind words, with the heir to the throne acknowledging that while “this is good news, there is still a long way to go” in his wife's cancer journey.
The future king – who was not accompanied by the Princess of Wales – met pupils and staff at a local school before visiting the headquarters of the Wales Air Ambulance in Llanelli, Wales, of which he is patron.
Following his trip, William shared his joy at being back in Wales on social media.
“Hello, Llanelli! It's great to be back in Wales,” he said written on xPreviously on Twitter. “Thank you to the brilliant pupils of Swiss Valley Community Primary School, it’s so lovely to see you all 👋.”
The official engagement comes less than a day after Princess Catherine shared a heartwarming video on social media in which she opened up about her diagnosis.
“I can't tell you how relieved I am to finally have my chemotherapy completed,” she said in the video. Shared on X,
“My focus now is on doing everything I can to remain cancer-free. Although I have completed chemotherapy, my road to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to live each day as it comes.”
The 42-year-old princess has been in hiding for much of the year since revealing in March that she was receiving treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer.
The mother of three said she is now “looking forward to getting back to work and attending some more public events in the coming months when possible.”
Kate thanked those who supported her during her months-long battle with the disease.
As part of the major health update, Kensington Palace also released rare, adorable footage of the future queen with her husband William and their three children — Prince George, 11, Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.
The three-minute clip, shot in Norfolk over the summer, shows Kate and William holding hands, kissing and hugging.
Kate, who has previously admitted she has had good and bad days while undergoing treatment, last appeared in public at the Wimbledon men's final in July alongside her daughter Princess Charlotte and sister Pippa Middleton.
