Late Princess Diana’s younger brother Charles Spencer has revealed about his new relationship with his much younger girlfriend Dr Katrin Jarman.
Earl Spencer, 60, insisted he wasn’t looking for love when he met Jarman, explaining that the two – who have an 18-year age gap between them – went from “friends” to “colleagues” to lovers.

Spencer met the 42-year-old archaeologist in 2021, when she visited her family’s country estate Althorp, where her late sister was buried, for work-related reasons.
Despite Spencer being married to his estranged wife, Countess Karen Spencer at the time, the pair soon formed a strong friendship.
In fact, their friendship became so close that the two even launched a podcast called “The Rabbit Hole Detectives” together with Reverend Richard Coles.
Still, Spencer insists that there was nothing romantic going on between her and Jarman at the time.
“The thing is, I’m 18 years older than Kat and so it just wasn’t a possibility,” he told the outlet. “I’ve never been with anyone much younger. I wasn’t even thinking about romance. I was in the final stages of a wedding. “It just wasn’t a possibility.”
“I never tried to make a hard sell on CAT. She is very smart, very emotionally mature. With him I don’t pretend to be anything I’m not. She knows exactly who I am and who I am not,” he said.
Jarman said of her new boyfriend, “I feel like I’ve gotten to know Charles very slowly as a friend, and I’ve gotten to know how his life has evolved.” “I know now who he is. That is all that matters.”
“I’m too old for the hearts and flowers thing, but the best way to describe it is that with Kat, I can be myself,” Spencer chimed in, adding that Jarman “knows That’s who I am.”
“I don’t have to pretend to be something I’m not. And she brings out the best in me,” he said.
As for going from friends to lovers, Spencer admits that their relationship turned into “something more” in March 2024 — three months before Charles announced their divorce.
“To put it this way, it’s a very easy relationship,” he shared. “Sometimes in the past I was trying to make people better, or make people happy. I guess I was a people pleaser. “I’m much less concerned about that.”
The 9th Earl Spencer said that several of his “close friends” have said “how pleased they are with it.” [he is] With someone like Kat because it shows huge progress from where [he] was before.”

Spencer has a 12-year-old daughter with Karen, as well as six other children from his two previous marriages.
Jarman, for her part, shares two teenage boys with her ex-husband.
Before starting a romance with Jarman, Spencer was married to Lady Spencer, 52, for 13 years.
He was married to Caroline Freud from 2001 to 2007, and to Victoria Aitken from 1989 to 1997.
