Buckingham Palace has announced that Queen Camilla is suffering from a chest infection and has pulled out of all royal engagements this week.
The 77-year-old royal is now ready for “a short period of rest” as per the advice of doctors as he remains under observation at home.
“The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest,” a palace spokesperson told The Post.
“With extreme regret, Her Majesty has had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, but she is very hopeful that she will recover in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events as normal.”
“She apologizes to anyone who may have been inconvenienced or disappointed as a result,” the statement concluded.
In an effort to prioritize recovery, Camila was forced to attend the opening of this year’s Field of Remembrance event at London’s Westminster Abbey on Thursday.
The annual event, which falls on November 11 every year, honors veterans and soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice for their country in conflicts such as the First and Second World Wars.
Instead, Birgitte, the 78-year-old Duchess of Gloucester, will step in on Her Majesty’s behalf.
Camilla has also pulled out of King Charles III’s reception for Olympic and Paralympic athletes on Thursday.
Last month, the couple returned home from a Official five-day royal tour Australia and Samoa. This was the King’s first visit to Australia as King.
This year the royal family is struggling with health problems.
In January, Kate Middleton revealed that she had undergone abdominal surgery on the advice of doctors.
The following month, it was revealed that Charles, 75, had been diagnosed with cancer – just weeks before Princess Catherine, 42, revealed her diagnosis to the world.
The Princess of Wales has since completed chemotherapy, and she is ready to resume more public-facing responsibilities as time goes on, as her recovery is on track.
The mother of three returned to work in September, days after releasing an emotional video of her family following the completion of her cancer treatment.
