Queen of Tears is the highest-rated tvN series which smashed the ratings record previously made by Crash Landing on You. The satisfying series finale of Queen of Tears scored an average nationwide rating of 24.850%, according to Nielsen Korea and Soompi, beating the 21.683% rating record earlier achieved by Crash Landing on You’s series finale. For the unversed, Queen of Tears and Crash Landing on You have a common factor besides being aired on tvN and Netflix; both the tvN dramas have been penned by Park Ji Eun, a renowned scriptwriter. Moreover, Kim Soo Hyun also had a hilarious cameo as his popular Secretly, Greatly character Won Ryu Hwan in CLOY.
Interestingly, Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won’s K-drama is now the third highest-rated series in Korean cable television history, bested only by The World of the Married (28.371%), starring Kim Hee Ae, Park Hae Joon and Han So Hee; and Reborn Rich (26.948%), headlined by Song Joong Ki, Lee Sung Min and Shin Hyun Been. Before the series finale of Queen of Tears, Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won shared their candid thoughts on the K-drama’s conclusion as well as the overwhelming love the show has received from a global audience. Kim Soo Hyun said, “Thank you for giving Queen of Tears so much love. I was happy because of you,”
Kim Ji Won said, “As we spent a long time filming [the drama], I eagerly waited for it while feeling both nervous and excited, and I feel sad at the thought that it’s ending already.
