Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino wieghed in on the recent Rust shooting trial and says that actor Alec Baldwin was partially responsible for the deadly accident.
“It’s a situation, I think…I’m being fair enough to say, that the armorer—the guy who handles the gun—is 90% responsible for everything that happens when it comes to that gun, but … the actor’s 10% responsible,” Tarantino told Bill Maher. “It’s a gun. You are a partner in the responsibility, to some degree.”
Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter case was dismissed by a judge last month.
He was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter after fatally shooting cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the New Mexico movie set in October 2021. At the time, he was practicing a cross-draw when the gun fired. He says he was told the weapon was not “hot,” but the weapon did have bullets in the chamber. The case was dismissed after it was revealed that prosecutors witheld evidence.
