Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan was laid to rest in a celebration of life ceremony on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old, whose legal name is Dequantes Devontae Lamar, died on September 5. The artist is known for the hit records “Type of Way,” “Lifestyle” and “Flex.” The ceremony was held at World Changers Church International in his hometown of Atlanta.

On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the Lamar family lost their beloved son, brother, father, and friend. Known to the world as Rich Homie Quan, DeQuantes Devontae Lamar was a proud native of the great city of Atlanta, Georgia and traveled the world through his music. Although he has left us with an irreplaceable loss in our hearts, we find comfort in knowing that his music and triumphant spirit are still alive.
Rich Homie Quan rose to fame in the early 2010s and found mainstream music success with his single “Type of Way” in 2013. His 2015 single “Flex” peaked at number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Rich Homie Quan was a member of the music group Rich Gang, where he made music and several top hit songs as a solo artist in the 2010s. Quan was known for his “smooth flow and catchy hooks”, according to entertainment magazine Variety.
The medical examiner's office reported he was born on October 4, 1990. In 2011, he began making trap music and collaborated with fellow Atlanta rappers like Young Thug and 2 Chainz and big-name rappers like Gucci Mane, Trinidad James, YG and others.
An incident report taken Sept. 5 from the Atlanta Police Department shows officers responded to a medical call at a home along Hamden Forest Drive SW in Atlanta just after 11:20 a.m. The 33-year-old man appeared unconscious.
According to reports, he was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead. Although the post-mortem of the body has been done, the official cause of his death is not yet known.
