How to Watch the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Person

How to watch the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on TV and streaming

Coverage begins Wednesday at 7 p.m. on NBC New York with “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” hosted by Natalie Pasquarella, David Ushery and Mario Lopez.

The national event begins at 8 p.m. ET on NBC as the Rockefeller Center ceremony begins.

It will be broadcast live on NBC and also streamed on Peacock. The program is a two-hour special called “Christmas at Rockefeller Center”.

For the first time, Spanish-language viewers can also watch a simulcast of Telemundo, “Navidades en Rockefeller Center”, with a live broadcast from 9 p.m.

At the end of the two-hour event, the tree will be lit shortly before 10 p.m.

Who are the performers in the tree lighting ceremony?,

Kelly Clarkson will return to host the lighting ceremony and its television special, “Christmas at Rockefeller Center.” The talk show host and former “American Idol” star first performed at the ceremony two decades ago.

“I love vacations here in New York,” Clarkson said on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

He added, “Being here during Christmas is like being in a movie. There is nothing like it in the world, especially the tree lighting ceremony.”

In addition to Clarkson, ‘Today’ co-anchors Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Al Roker and Craig Melvin will appear.

There will be musical performances from the Radio City Rockettes, Backstreet Boys, Broadway star Megan Hilty, Jennifer Hudson, country duo Dan + Shay and Thalia.

Which roads will be closed due to the tree lighting ceremony?,

According to the NYPD, road closures will be in place at 46th Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue; 47th Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue; 48th Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue; 49th Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue; 50th Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue; 51st Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue; 52nd Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue; Rockefeller Plaza between 48th Street and 51st Street; 6th Avenue between 46th Street and 52nd Street and 5th Avenue between 46th Street and 52nd Street.

How are the Rockefeller Center Christmas trees selected?,

Eric Pozé, Rockefeller Center’s head gardener, has been in charge of the tree’s discovery and transportation for more than three decades. While he was in college in 1988, he started as a summer assistant at Rockefeller Center. he told the centre’s magazine.

58 year old Long Islander told The Post He “easily” searches for 100 trees each year, spanning six states.

He told the Post that this year’s tree has been on his radar since 2020.

“I’ll come in during those four years…and keep an eye on it.”

After getting to know the tree and its owner — and overseeing the pampering of the future prize by making sure it was well cared for — Pause said “it was perfect this year.”

About his process, pos. told Rockefeller Center Magazine“It’s something different every year. Typically, the timeline is that all year long, almost every day, I’m thinking about this year’s tree, next year’s tree, and maybe the tree after that.

He said he was looking for “a tree that you would want in your living room” but on a “grand” scale.

“It’s got nice, great shape all around. And most of all, it has to look good for the kids who come to 30 Rock; This needs to bring a big smile on their face instantly. There is a need to instill a feeling of happiness in it. Norway spruce is great for the scale it can achieve; It can keep the light on its branches, and it stands good and proud like a tree.”

This year’s tree is the first from Massachusetts since 1959. This is a 74-foot tall, 43-foot wide Norway spruce from West Stockbridge, and it reportedly weighs 11 tons.

How long will the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree stand and when will it be lit,

It arrived at Rockefeller Center on November 9, and will be lit from 5 a.m. to midnight daily. It will be lit for a full 24 hours on Christmas Eve. This will last till mid-January 2025.

What happens to the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree after the holiday season,

When the tree is felled, it is cut and ground into beams. Tishman Speyer, the firm that owns and operates Rockefeller Center, donates the wood to Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit home-building organization. Therefore, it will be used to build houses for the needy people.

What happened last year and are there plans for protests this year?,
