Spanning 4 city blocks, the world’s largest cruise ship “Icon of the Seas” was inaugurated on the Port of Miami on 27th Jan. This mammoth vessel, made by Royal Caribbean, worlds’ 2nd largest cruise line operator, is almost 1,200 feet (365 meters) long from bow to stern.

The ship was christened on Tuesday in a ceremony which was also attended by football star Lionel Messi as well as Inter Miami teammates. The ship shall set sail for a 7-day tropical island hopping adventure from South Florida.
A project which costed Royal Caribbean $2 billion, Icon of the Seas symbolizes more than 50 years of innovation by the group.
Integrated with cutting-edge technology with an emphasis on environmental responsibility, this ships claims to more environmentally friendly than some of the other smaller cruise ships, despite its size.
The ship is plonked with six dual-fuel engines which can run on liquefied natural gas (LNG). This furthers its claim of reducing sulphur as well as the Greenhouse gases (aka GHGs).
Speaking of the amenities, the “Icon” includes six waterslides, seven swimming pools, an ice skating rink, a theatre, and over 40 restaurants, bars, and lounges.
Organized into eight neighbourhoods across 20 decks, with an aim to redefine multigenerational family vacations, this ship can accommodate 7,600 passengers and 2,350 crew members.

The Royal Caribbean group said that it scrutinizing every single kilowatt that is being consumed by the company.
