rufus du soul new music
On October 11, the deep house dudes from Down Under released their fifth studio album, “Inhale/Exhale”.
Comprised of 15 atmospheric tracks, the record showcases Lindqvist, George and Hunt’s natural tendency to get the party started and takes them to the next level.
Although “Inhale/Exhale” is one of those “no skip albums,” you’ll want to pay extra attention to the one-two punch of “Inhale” and the bouncy “Lately” that kick off the proceedings. It’s a masterclass in building tension – like a rollercoaster that climbs to its peak – and then releasing the tension through dance.
Other highlights include the headbanger “Music Is Better,” the mantra-like “Levitating” and the cool, synth-y “Break My Love.”
Make sure to stick around until the album closer “Exhale,” which somehow takes you underwater before coming up for a much-needed breath of air; Take a breath out if you want.

rufus du sol review
Last January, the New York Post’s Mieska Sleiman saw Rufus du Sol live at Zamana, aka Tulum’s premiere electronic music festival. Here is an excerpt from his review:
He wrote, “The real magic comes when the group starts playing ‘Innerbloom’, their most anticipated song early in the morning.” “I watch hundreds of now familiar strangers put their hands over their hearts, others step forward to catch the song, fingers of soul fluttering as Tyrone sings “If you want me/If you need me/I Yours.” We swing back and forth unapologetically, lingering on every break, noticing how each sparse song is deliberately chosen to create something that’s never been done before. It A musical experiment and we were all a part of it.”
“And then suddenly, just before the heartbeat subsides, a light drizzle of warm rain begins to wash our salty bodies. Cracks of orange light are visible from beneath the moon. The darkness flies away. There is a feeling of completeness. We hear other people grumbling about God being part of the production team. It’s hard to argue with that. “It’s purifying,” my friend exclaims, her face streaked with raindrops. “This is heaven.”
