The illegal Guatemalan immigrant accused of burning a woman on a Brooklyn subway train has been identified as Sebastian Zapeta-Calil, 33, who sneaked back into the U.S. after being deported, federal immigration officials said Monday.
Sources said Zepeta-Calil is now being detained by the NYPD while authorities await the results of the victim’s autopsy.
Sources said the autopsy will determine what charges can be filed against the migrant – but the process is complicated by the condition of the victim’s body, which was badly burned in the incident.
According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Mary Ferguson, the agency hopes to house one detainee at Zapeta-Calil while the other is being held in the Big Apple.

Zapeta-Calil was caught at the border in Arizona on June 1, 2018, and deported a week later — but re-entered the country illegally at some point, Ferguson said.
