And when there’s no warm body in the room, people over 50 are turning to chatbots for companionship – shows a recent survey on senior citizens and sophisticated technology.
“Artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed the way we live, and its impact on seniors is no exception,” wrote the authors of a October report from CarewellA virtual home healthcare hub.
“Seniors are discovering how AI can enhance their health and independence, making everyday tasks easier and improving their overall quality of life,” the experts added.

In fact, researchers at CareWell surveyed more than 1,000 young people over the age of 55 and found that 78% regularly use bots, including Chatbot, Alexa, and Google Assistant, for multiple purposes.
The investigators also revealed that 56% of Sliver Foxes turn to the technology to help complete daily tasks like home automation and meal planning, while 46% use it to look up health information.
As for friendship, 18% of older people socialize more with their computerized friends, and 64% with caregivers reported they rely on their support less because of fancy advances.
“These findings show the potential of AI to empower seniors, making them more self-reliant and increasing their independence,” the analysts said.
But the benefits of robotics aren’t limited to improved autonomy.
80% of pensioners using AI rated their mental health as “excellent” and 53% claimed they “rarely” or almost “never” feel isolated with electronics at their fingertips.
“No matter how often they used AI, about half [of the respondents] They have seen its positive impact on their overall quality of life, and many were willing to try new technologies,” experts said.
“As AI continues to develop, its ability to help seniors and caregivers will only grow,” insiders said, “allowing older adults to stay healthier and more independent in a technology-driven world.”
