The segment focuses primarily on Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and outgoing President Joe Biden who appears to call his opponent’s supporters “trash.”
Trump, 78, turned the attack into a stunt by wearing a high-vis vest and driving around in a Trump-branded garbage truck.
Saying that Trump dressed up as a “convicted sexual predator garbage man” for Halloween, Humphries highlighted America’s position before jokingly asking whether the AUKUS deal is still viable.
“To recap, a comedian at a Trump rally called Puerto Rico trash, which resulted in Joe Biden calling Trump supporters trash, which then led to Donald Trump dressing up as a garbage man and driving around in a garbage truck .
“Do we really want to buy submarines from these guys?”
Chapman re-shared the clip, saying Australia had “figured out Trump”.
“Awesome @markhumphries,” she wrote with an Australian flag emoji.
Americans commented on the clip online, saying that the satirical segment was an accurate reflection of how the world views the events leading up to the US election.
“I think I’m going to start watching @7NewsMelbourne on any US MSM because this was much better coverage than what they gave,” wrote one.
Another said: “I mean. “America, this is how the world sees us.”
A third wrote: “Perfect! And hilarious. Australia, if you’re listening, SOS.”
