Shah Rukh Khan starrer King & 6 other big-budget, highly anticipated movies that are expected to revive Bollywood’s box-office slumber

Shah Rukh Khan had a terrific box-office run in 2023 with two blockbuster films Jawan and Pathaan, and a superhit in Dunki. Keeping with this momentum, the superstar recently confirmed Sujoy Ghosh’s King to be his next project. The film, which will reportedly also star Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan, is being made on a budget of Rs 200 crore, according to The Indian Express.

1. King
King is an action-thriller which is being helmed by Sujoy Ghosh. While Shah Rukh Khan recently confirmed his casting, King is also said to star his daughter-actress Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan as the main antagonist and Munjya’s Abhay Verma. The plot is currently under wraps, but it’s been reported that Shah Rukh Khan will play Suhana Khan’s mentor in the film.

In an interview with Giona A. Nazzaro, Artistic Director of the Locarno Film Festival, Shah Rukh Khan shared some details about King. “The next film I’m doing, King, I have to start working on it. Have to lose some weight and stretch a little so my groin doesn’t get caught while I am doing action. It’s very painful and hurtful. I have two bags full of icing machines. It’s the worst thing to see me on set after action. I look really cool in the film, but after that, I look tied up, somebody is pressing my back. It’s difficult to walk and then suddenly you see people and send them flying kisses,” Indian Express quoted the actor saying.

2. Ramayana

After the massive success of Animal, Ranbir Kapoor has switched gears to essay the role of Lord Ram in Ramayana. The Nitesh Tiwari directorial has been touted as the most expensive Bollywood film ever made, and also stars Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita. Reportedly, Ramayana is being planned as a trilogy, with the first instalment expected to release in October 2027.
