Shark Tank India is returning with its third season this winter. The first season of the reality show aired in December 2021 and the second season was released in January and will continue until March. The dates for the third season have not been announced yet, but it is expected to air in December or January.
Based on the American show Shark Tank, the show features aspiring entrepreneurs pitching their business ideas to a panel of successful investors known as ‘sharks.’ These investors decide whether to invest their money in the businesses in exchange for equity stakes.
This year, the panel will feature two new sharks – Ritesh Agarwal, founder and CEO of OYO Rooms and Deepinder Goyal, co-founder and CEO of Zomato.
The returning sharks are Aman Gupta, co-founder and CMO of boAt; Amit Jain, CEO and co-founder of CarDekho; Anupam Mittal, founder and CEO of Shaadi.com; Peyush Bansal, founder and CEO of Lenskart.com; Namita Thapar, executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals and Vineeta Singh, co-founder and CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics.
1. Ritesh Agarwal – Rs 16,000 crore
According to TOI, the founder and CEO of OYO Rooms, 29-year-old Ritesh Agarwal, is the youngest judge on the show and one of the youngest self-made billionaires in India, with a net worth of Rs 16000 crore.
In 2011, Agarwal started a venture similar to Airbnb named “Oravel Stays.” Subsequently, in 2012, it participated in the accelerator program at Venture Nursery, and 2013, it secured a grant of $100,000 (Rs 83 lakh approx.) as one of the recipients of the 2013 Thiel Fellowship. The business was officially introduced as OYO Rooms in May 2013.
Agarwal was just 20 years old when he founded OYO, for which he dropped out of college. According to TOI, OYO is valued at more than Rs 330 crore.
