Australian Idol judge and radio host Kyle Sandilands has revealed that he suffered a shocking accident at his Sydney mansion that left him fearing for his life.
The 52-year-old fell down the stairs of his home overnight on Tuesday — when he was alone — forcing producers of The Kyle & Jackie O Show to play a pre-recorded episode on Wednesday.

“We had to run a pre-done show because I fell from the top of my internal staircase and rolled and rattled and bumped all the way to the bottom and was left splayed out like a Christmas dinner,” he explained on Thursday morning’s show.
“And no-one was home, so I’m like, ‘Help’,” he added, saying at first he was unable to get up off the floor.
Sandilands said his wife Tegan and baby son Otto were away for the night and the nanny wasn’t home either.
“I went down hard,” he said.
He explained that he was heading down his “big, wide marble staircase” in the dark because the lights were at the bottom of the staircase, rather than the top.
“My foot just went and I just went to the bottom of the floor,” he said.
“I was so injured, I thought, ‘That’s it for me, this is the beginning of the end’.”
“Well, all the health problems begin after the fall,” newsreader Brooklyn Ross interjected, while Jackie O Henderson could be heard agreeing in the background.
“That’s the end of you, when you have ‘the fall’ later in life, you know?” Henderson then joked.
“No, I don’t think you’re there yet Kyle.”
Sandilands eventually managed to get himself up off the floor, thankfully not having suffered any major damage.
“But it rattled me a bit,” he admitted.
New look
Sandilands, like his co-host Jackie O, has recently had to defend himself against accusations that his recent weight loss was down to Ozempic use.
The father-of-one had shed the kilos in recent weeks, prompting speculation he was using the diabetic appetite suppressant drug, used by many celebrities to lose weight.
On January 18, Sandilands said he had stopped consuming as much bread and drinking Coca-Cola.
“You always come back from the (Christmas) break a little bit skinnier because you’ve been healthier… You’re less into the 12 coffees,” co-host Jackie Henderson said as another explanation for his sudden weight loss.
Sandilands added that, while on holiday, his wife Tegan made sure he ate healthily.
“I go, ‘Can you bring me a chocolate Paddle Pop?’ and a salad shows up,” he said.
Addressing the rumours he was taking Ozempic, he said: “I don’t care but I just wish people would know that if I was (on it), I’d just say it at this point.
“There’s nothing stopping me from saying it and I would say it, but I can’t convince people otherwise.”
