An enraged Spirit Airlines gate agent was caught on video yelling at disgruntled passengers to “shut up” as they became agitated after waiting hours to board their delayed flight.
The heated exchange happened at Hollywood Burbank Airport in California when passengers waiting to board a morning flight that had been delayed for over eight hours began questioning the hold-up, according to Inside Edition.
However, the Spirit employees became overwhelmed when a different group of passengers arrived at the gate for their flight and joined in the mayhem.
“Please, be quiet so I can think of what’s going on. I don’t even know what aircraft’s here because everybody’s screaming numbers,” one agent, wearing an orange shirt and reflective vest, sternly announces over the intercom to anxious passengers.
“You guys won’t give me a minute. Please give me a minute!”
The clip then jumps to a second agent, donning a black shirt and reflective vest, clenching her fist and screaming at the anxious passengers.
“Can I have everybody’s attention right now!?” the ticked-off agent shouts at the crowd without using the intercom. “Do you all wanna get on this flight or not?”
“Yes, we do, girl!” a passenger yells back from the gaggle of disgruntled fliers.
“All right! So, everyone’s gonna shut up, and we’re gonna say this once, and we’re only gonna say it again because we’re frustrated as hell,” she proclaimed to the travelers in the heated interaction recorded by a nearby passenger, Kevin Eis.
As Eis leans his camera in to record the agent blowing her top off, the first Spirit Airlines gate agent tells him she can “remove him off” the flight.
Eis, who was boarding another flight to Las Vegas when he recorded the absurd outburst, was left in shock.
“Oh my God it was the most chaotic thing that has ever happened to me at an airport,” he told Inside Edition.
Eis claims that the second agent heard telling travelers to “shut up” initially came over to help assist the first agent and calm down the passengers but quickly lost her cool.
“We apologize to our guests for this experience, which does not reflect Spirit’s high standards for guest services,” Spirit Airlines said in a statement to Inside Edition.
The airlines also shared that the two agents have been suspended following their outburst on their customers.
“I hope these people learn their lesson,” Eis shared.
This isn’t the first time things have gotten chaotic at a Spirit Airlines gate.
In May, a dispute at a Spirit Airlines ticket counter at Baltimore Washington International Airport erupted into a violent brawl involving five men, leaving one with minor injuries.
