The cause of death of Star Trek actress Jill Jacobson has been revealed.
The star, best known for his roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Newhart, has died at the age of 70 after battling a “long illness,” according to friend and publicist Dan Harry.
A few months before his death, Jacobson revealed that he had been diagnosed with esophageal cancer about two and a half years earlier.

Harry told deadline Jacobson died on December 8 at Culver West Health Center in Culver City, California.
Her family also released a statement, the outlet reports.
“Beautiful, energetic and positive to the end, she will be greatly missed by many relatives, friends and her beloved dogs Benny and Kowalski,” the family said.
Jacobson spoke about her cancer during an appearance earlier this year gym masters showExplaining that her cancer “knocked me out of the game for a while”.
“What I went through was quite serious. You can’t work, you just can’t work.
“And now I’m so grateful, I just want to keep going, I want to help people. It makes you want to help people.”
Jacobson was a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society.
Aspiring to become an actress, she graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Radio-TV-Film/Performance.
The actress debuted in the 1977 horror film Nurse Sherry, before landing roles in Quantum Leap, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Newhart, Who’s the Boss?
He played another role in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Jacobson also secured a small recurring role on the hit Days of Our Lives in 1995.
