Stevie Nicks hospitalized for infection, had to cancel concert

Stevie Nicks dealt with a scary medical emergency recently.

Earlier this month, the 76-year-old singer canceled a solo concert in Glasgow, Scotland, after suffering what was said to be a leg injury that required surgery.

But during the rescheduled show on July 24, Nicks revealed that her health scare was much more serious.

“I don’t know what happened. I just got this weird infection, and it just went crazy,” she told the crowd in a video from the concert.

The Fleetwood Mac musician explained that she was staying in a “fabulous castle” in Glasgow for her concert on July 6.

“We get here days early because we want to be here for a few days,” she said. “I finally just looked at my assistant – it was like two in the morning – and I said, ‘I think we need to go to emergency’. She looked at me and I said, ‘I’m not kidding! I think we need to go to the hospital.’ “

Nicks continued, “And so our butler – this wonderful man – throws us in his BMW Sedan, which is so great, and off we sped through the night to a hospital.”

The “Edge of Seventeen” singer said she spent two days in the hospital, before she returned to the castle and decided to cancel the Glasgow show.

“I’ve been fighting this for this whole thing,” she told her fans in the audience.

“This whole tour I’ve been fighting what started here. And I would be damned if I wasn’t coming back here,” she said to loud cheers.

Nicks’ health crisis forced her to abruptly postpone her July 6 Glasgow show and her July 9 Manchester show.

“Due to a recent leg injury requiring a minor surgical procedure that will need a few days of recovery time, Stevie Nicks’ scheduled performances in Glasgow Saturday 6 July and Manchester Tuesday 9 July have been postponed,” Glasgow venue OVO Hydro posted on X (formerly Twitter).

She played the rescheduled Manchester show on July 16.

Nicks’ performance at BST Hyde Park in London on July 12 went on as planned despite her health scare.

During the show, she brought out Harry Styles for a duet of her iconic song “Landslide,” as a tribute to the late Christine McVie.

McVie, a core member of Fleetwood Mac, died at age 79 in Nov. 2022. She suffered a massive stroke after being diagnosed with cancer.

“I asked Harry to do this,” Nicks told the crowd at BST Hyde Park. “It’s always heavy to ask someone to come and sing the song with you when you’re singing about your best friend that died so suddenly and so sadly.”

“What I want you to know is that Christine was Harry’s girl, she was my girl, she was your girl,” Nicks added.

Last year, Nicks said she doesn’t foresee Fleetwood Mac continuing together following McVie’s death.

“When Christine died, I felt like you can’t replace her. You just can’t. Without her, what is it? You know what I mean?” she told Vulture.
