Stree 2 actress Shraddha Kapoor earned this amount as her first salary; Here’s what she spent it on
Shraddha Kapoor, who began her acting career with a brief role in the 2010 film Teen Patti, quickly rose to prominence. She landed her first leading role in Luv Ka The End (2011) and achieved her breakthrough with Aashiqui 2 (2013).
Recently, the actor and her Stree 2 co-star Rajkummar Rao appeared on the second episode of Aapka Apna Zakir, hosted by comedian Zakir Khan. During the show, Zakir asked Kapoor about her first pay-check and how she spent it.
Kapoor shared a nostalgic story about her first earnings, explaining that she made $40 while working at a coffee shop in the United States. She recalled, “Meri pehli kamayi thi toh mere maa baap ne mujhe bahut pyaar se, laad se America bheja lekin unhone bola ki ladki bigad na jaye toh usko pocket money pe rakhenge. Aur budget me rakhenge aur unhone bola ki agar kuch extra paise chahiye toh khud kama lena,” she said. (My parents had sent me to America to study, but to ensure that I don’t get too spoiled, they gave me fixed pocket money and told me that if I wanted more cash, I would have to work for it.)
“Aur hamesha se joh mere pita joh hai, unki joh journey rahi hai kamal ki. Unhone bola ki abhi aap job karlo waha pe. Toh maine waha pe ek coffee shop mei apply kiya, job mil gayi. Thank God mil gayi aur mera pehla cheque tha 40 Dollar bahut saal pehle. Aur Khane mei kharch kar diye maine toh,” she added. (My father’s journey has been amazing. He told me that I should get a job. So, I applied for a posting at a coffee shop and thankfully, I got the job. I earned $40 for the same, which I ended up spending on food.)
When Zakir posed the same question to Rajkummar Rao, the actor shared a touching story from his early life. Rao, who comes from a modest background, used his first earnings — Rs 300 — to buy groceries for his family.
“I was in high school when I used to go teach dance to a 7-year-old girl at her house. I used to get Rs 300 for training her. The first time when I received my first salary, I think it was six notes of Rs 50. I was so happy because the financial situation at my house was not good in those days,” he recalled.
“I used my first salary to buy groceries. And after buying everything, I was left with some money so I bought desi ghee. It was a big deal for us to have ghee on our rotis,” Rao, who lost his father in 2016 and mother in 2019, added.
Fast forward to 2024, and Shraddha Kapoor’s net worth is reported to be Rs 123 crore, according to News18, while Rajkummar Rao’s net worth is estimated at Rs 81 crore, according to Financial Express.
