Stree 2 has awoken Bollywood from its box office slumber in 2024. The horror comedy movie is the sequel to Stree (2018) and brings back the OG cast including Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor. Stree 2 crossed the Rs 200 crore mark at the box office in just four days and is already the fourth highest-grossing Indian film of the year, just behind Kalki 2898 AD, Hanu-man and Fighter.
According to ABP News, Rajkummar Rao was the highest-paid Stree 2 cast member, taking home Rs 6 crore. On the other hand, Shraddha Kapoor reportedly received a pay cheque of Rs 5 crore for starring in the sequel. However, neither of them is the richest Stree 2 cast member. For the uninitiated, the actor has a cameo in the sequel and plays an integral role, particularly towards the climax. According to Times of India, Indian Express, and other publicly available data, Akshay Kumar has a staggering net worth of Rs 2,500 crore. His primary source of income comes from his fees per movie, as he’s also one of the highest-paid actors in India.
Besides Stree 2, Akshay Kumar’s Independence Day 2024 releases included Khel Khel Mein. According to ABP News, the actor took home Rs 60 crore for the Mudassar Aziz-directed film. According to Financial Express, Akshay Kumar charged Rs 80 crore for starring in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.

In Stree 2, Akshay Kumar plays the descendant of Sarkata, the main antagonist in the sequel. Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) and his squad enlist his character’s help to defeat Sarkata. While his valuable advice comes in handy, it turns out he’s more sinister than Sarkata. In Stree 2’s post-credits scene, he receives Sarkata’s remains, extracts his soul and becomes a very powerful being. This hints that Akshay Kumar will play the new supervillain in Maddock horror comedy universe.
