With 2025 coming closer to us, people are looking forward to a lot of things with the start of the new year, but the thing almost all of us are waiting for is the all-new, rebooted Superman and the beginning of a new DCU. There are many characters set to appear in the upcoming DCU movie, but James Gunn has finally confirmed that Krypto the Superdog is going to be a part of the Superman movie and in this article, learn all about it!
in one x post Created by James Gunn, he confirmed “Crypto will be on screens in Superman this summer” with a tweet that included a heartfelt message to his adopted dog Ozu.
In the post, he told us how while writing the script for Superman, Ozu’s presence gave him the idea of adding Crypto to Superman’s script. In the post, James Gunn says-
“Crypto was inspired by our dog Ozu, who we adopted shortly after we started writing Superman. Ozu, who came from a backyard hoarding situation with 60 other dogs and had never known humans, was problematic, to say the least. He immediately came in and destroyed our house, our shoes, our furniture – he even ate my laptop. It took a long time before she even let us touch her. I remember thinking, “Oh my God, how much harder would life be if Ozu had superpowers?” – And so crypto came into the script and changed the shape of the story just as Ozu was changing my life.
Krypto was the pet dog of Superman’s family who came to Earth
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Krypto, he was the family dog of the House of El on Krypton.He was used as a test subject for the ship that was to take Kal-El or Superman to Earth when they finally reached Krypton. However, his ship lost its way and he was lost in space. When Kal-El was finally sent to Earth, Krypto’s ship picked up the infant ship’s signal and began following the same trajectory.
However, Jal-El arrived on Earth several years before Krypto and when they finally met, Superman was already a teenager. Even though they didn’t remember much, the two of them instantly bonded, becoming best friends and staying that way even after Clark Kent became Superman.
Even though James Gunn didn’t share many details about Krypto’s role and appearance in Superman, it’s still good to know that after being present in comic books, animated shows, and movies, Krypto is finally coming to life. Action. So let’s wait and see how it turns out and until then, stay tuned!
