Sylvester Stallone calls Trump ‘second George Washington’ at Mar-a-Lago gala



Sylvester Stallone dubbed President-elect Donald Trump “the second George Washington” as the actor referenced his film series “Rocky” during the star-studded America First Policy Conference at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday night.

Stallone, 78, described the opening scene of the first film where the camera pans down from a mural of Jesus inside an old church, which has been converted into a boxing ring and shows Rocky Balboa being attacked by his opponent in the “Resurrection AC Club”. “In that moment, he was the chosen one and that’s how I began the journey,” Stallone told the West Palm Beach, Florida crowd. “Something is going to happen, this guy is going to undergo a transformation and change lives.”

“Just like President Trump,” he said and the audience started cheering.

Stallone described Trump as a “mythical character” as he was “amazed” by the former and next president’s historic election night victory.

“This person does not exist on this planet. No one could do what he did, so I am amazed.”

The tough-guy filmmaker then compared Trump’s most recent campaign to the American Revolution and the country’s first president.

“When George Washington defended his country, he had no idea that he was going to change the world. ‘Because without him, you could imagine what the world would look like.’

“Guess what? We got another George Washington,” he said.

Stallone welcomed Trump to the stage, saying, “Congratulations.”
