A TikTok lifestyle influencer and mother of a young girl has hit out at a department store over what she called a “redesign” of its shopping cart.
Angry Ashley Darling recently posted a video inside the aisle of Target and complaining that “you can definitely tell they didn't consult a single mom when redesigning these carts.”
Though she liked the bucket seat for her child, his mother complained that the two cupholders on the side were a nuisance.
“Guess who's going to pull my straw and try to drink my iced drink Coffee?This one, yes,? Darling said, pointing to her daughter.
“I think anyone can tell you we don't want cup holders up here,” he added, suggesting they be placed closer to the front of the car.
There are also small holes in a brown section behind the bucket seats, which Darling says are “just the right size for kids' fingers — so they can literally stick their fingers in there.”
He bets there will be “some sort of lawsuit” due to him in the future.
However, in this case, the court of public opinion did not favor the online darling.
“I think the holes are so big that [toddler’s] One person commented on the video, “It doesn't trap my finger and I like the cup holder.”
Another said, “I really like the cup holder in there – my son can put his own cup in there so it doesn't spill in the store.”
One man who didn’t have kids agreed.
“Since I'm not a mom, I want my cup holder near the handle and my phone holder close to my hands.”
And, someone quickly pointed out a glaring flaw in Darling’s proposed redesign.
“I don’t want to have to stop, walk to the end of my car, get a drink of water and then put it back on before I can move on.”
