Taylor Swift has spent much of 2024 promoting her most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department. As she focuses on the title’s recently-selected second single, her previous bestseller apparently still has some life left in it–and some songs that radio programmers want their audiences to hear.
Long after Swift apparently stopped promoting her latest re-release, 1989 (Taylor’s Version), the album is still producing hits. This week, “Style (Taylor’s Version)” is back on one of Billboard’s radio rankings, and it’s bigger than ever.
“Style (Taylor’s Version)” blasts onto the Adult Contemporary chart this frame. The tune is present at No. 28 on the 30-spot list of the most-played and most successful tracks at pop radio stations that traffic primarily in a subgenre known simply as adult contemporary, as its name would suggest.
No. 28 marks a new high point for “Style (Taylor’s Version)” on the Adult Contemporary chart. The song was seemingly never promoted as a single from 1989 (Taylor’s Version), and yet it’s managed to not only reach the radio roster, but continue to climb.
“Style (Taylor’s Version)” is not brand new to the radio tally, though it does sit higher than ever this week. The tune has now spent three nonconsecutive frames somewhere on the competitive list. It debuted on the ranking in February, and since then, has fallen away and returned more than once.
Unexpectedly, two tunes from 1989 (Taylor’s Version) are not only present on the Adult Contemporary chart this frame, but they both climb to new heights. As “Style (Taylor’s Version)” peaks at No. 28, “Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version)” reaches a new best placement of No. 25. Last time around, it appeared at No. 29.
“Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version)” has not risen much higher than “Style (Taylor’s Version),” though it has spent significantly more time on the Adult Contemporary chart. The former cut–which was also not promoted as an official single, so it seems–has now lived on the radio tally for 18 weeks.
Swift owns four spaces on the Adult Contemporary radio list this frame. In addition to the two aforementioned hits, “Cruel Summer” keeps at No. 3, while “Fortnight” with Post Malone falls to No. 14 from No. 11–its peak on the tally.
