“Cheers” star Ted Danson and his wife Mary Steenburgen’s date nights look a little different at age 70.
during an interview with PeopleDanson said the couple, who will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary next year, prefer spending time together early in the morning to romantic date nights.
“Date nights at my age are kind of an early bird special,” Danson, 76, told the outlet.
She added, “The most fun is early morning, 4:30 in the morning, coffee in bed, playing Wordle, Connections and Spelling Bee, talking and laughing and sharing.”
“It’s heaven on earth for both of us,” the actor said.
Despite both of their busy schedules, Danson said the distance doesn’t stop them from spending their lovely morning together Steenbergen, 71.
“Even if she’s working in a different time zone, we’ll wake up on time so we can play our games and have coffee on the phone,” he said.
Danson told the outlet that he treasures these moments with his wife, one of the reasons they didn’t meet until later in life. When they met, Steenbergen and Danson were both 40 and already married.
Steenbergen has a son and daughter with actor Malcolm McDowell, to whom she was married from 1980 to 1990.
Danson first married Randy Danson in 1970 before they separated in 1975. He married his second wife, Casey Coates, in 1977 and they divorced in 1993; They have two daughters, Alexis and Kate.
Danson recalled before meeting Steenbergen, “About a year ago I decided I wanted to be a more emotionally mature, honest human being.” “I worked very hard on it or I don’t think Mary Steenburgen would have even seen me.”

Steenbergen and Danson tied the knot in 1995 after first meeting on the set of 1993’s “Pontiac Moon.”

“We found each other when I was 45 and she was 40,” he said. “We had lived a little. We both saw some demons within ourselves, and it was lucky that we met then.
