Things weren’t always happy behind the scenes it Favorite sitcom.
On Wednesday’s episode of Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson “Where Everyone Knows Your Name” PodcastDanson, 76, reflected on his friendship with his ‘Cheers’ co-star Kelsey Grammer.
“It’s not self-deprecating, but it is — I feel like I got stuck with you a little bit during the ‘Cheers’ years. I felt like getting mad at you once,” the “CSI” alum tells Grammar. I remember.”
The 69-year-old man replied, “Yes, you came one day and told me this.”
“And it’s stuck in both of our memories,” Danson continued. “But I feel like, f–k, I don’t know. I missed seeing the last 30 years of Kelsey Grammer and I feel like that’s my bad, my doing, and I almost feel like apologizing to you.
And that’s exactly what “The Good Place” star did.
“No – I don’t think so – I apologize And You know I sat back and didn’t do it, and I’m really sorry,” Danson said.
Grammer revealed, “You also said something wonderful to me, which I always quote to other people.” “When I turned 40, you came up to me and you said, ‘You know what that means, right? Now that you’re 40, it means you’re finally old enough to have a conversation. “
The two quipped before Harrelson, 63, laughed, saying, “It’s good.”
“That was f–king fantastic. I always liked that. And I have repeated it. And my love for you has always been as easy as day. You know, as easy as sunrise,” replied the “Frasier” vet.
Danson echoed his friend’s sentiments, saying, “To you from me.”
“How wonderful it is that we, the time that we all spent together. You may go in different directions, have different lives, but that bond, that love of creating something really fun and really cool and tearing each other apart and moving through life and still showing up. Like Jimmy (director James Burrows) said, ‘I don’t care what you guys do during the week. Just come to Shoot Night and be funny.”
Grammer took some time to reflect on his relationship with Burroughs, 83.
“He said recently, we were doing an interview together and he said, ‘You got an oar in the water.’ I never expressed this to her before, but she said, ‘As long as everyone’s got their oar in the water and they’re pulling, then I’m happy.’ I thought, ‘Yeah, that means a lot.’ And we are still working together. I mean, he’s been, you know, he does four shows the last bunch and it’s working out for him. ,
Danson said, “He’s like my father in show business, really, probably like all of us to some extent.”
“Cheers” ran for 11 seasons from 1982 to 1993, and Danson and Harrelson are now reflecting on their time on the iconic show.
In September, Grammer reported parade magazine About his desire to recruit Danson and Shelley Long for the “Frasier” reboot to reprise their roles as Sam Malone and Diane Chambers in the ’80s sitcom.
“I think it’s possible. We have some ideas about both those characters and the actors. But, whether they will occur or not, I cannot tell you. I don’t know. But it would definitely be great,” Grammer teased.
