Jennifer Massey, a 51-year-old art teacher at Davenport High School, was arrested Thursday after Comal County Sheriff’s Office deputies made a disturbing discovery.
The sheriff’s office said officers were investigating the home after a 911 call of activity at a vacant building in Garden Ridge around 6 p.m. and allegedly found Massey inside with a teen.
Deputies concluded based on their preliminary investigation that the pair “engaged in sexual contact,” the office said.
Massey was charged with improper relationship between a teacher and student, a second-degree felony, and is being held in the Comal County Jail.
The local school district where Macy teaches condemned the alleged behavior and placed her on leave, According to local CBS affiliate station KENS 5,
“The district does not tolerate inappropriate relationships between teachers and students. “Ensuring the safety of our students is our top priority,” Comal ISD said in a statement to the station. “We will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement during their investigation.”
The district also sent a message to parents on Friday, which was obtained by the outlet.
“The district learned that last night Mrs. Massey was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student,” the message said.
“Mrs. Macy was placed on administrative leave this morning, and will not be returning to Davenport High School.
