A woman in Thailand called “Ms.” Cyanide” smiled when she was sentenced to death for killing her friend with a fast-acting poison – as she stands accused of poisoning 13 other wealthy friends from whom she swindled thousands of dollars.
Sararat Rangsivuthaporn, 36 – nicknamed “Ms.” His friend Siriporn Kanawong, 32, was convicted of poisoning him – dubbed “cyanide” by Thai media – ahead of his 14 murder trial on Wednesday. CBS reported.
Traces of cyanide were found in the victim’s body after a trip to Ratchaburi province, west of Bangkok, in April 2023, and her money, phone and bag were missing.

During the fatal trip, Kanawong collapsed and died after having a meal with Rangsivuthaporn, who did not try to save him, investigators said.
Police said Rangasivuthaporn, who pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, had a gambling addiction and targeted wealthy friends, whom he defrauded of thousands of dollars and refused to pay back.
According to the BBC, Rangsivuthaporn was smiling when she was sentenced to death.
Rangsivuthaporn’s ex-husband Vitoon Rangsivuthaporn was sentenced to one year and four months in prison for possibly helping to poison her former lover, Suthisak Poonkwan.
A former police officer and Rangsivuthaporn’s lawyer were also sentenced to two years in prison for helping hide evidence to avoid prosecution.
According to the BBC, before being sentenced on Wednesday, he had also declared himself innocent.
Rangsivuthaporn was also ordered to pay two million baht ($57,667) to Kanawong’s family.
Rangsivuthaporn is facing 13 separate murder trials and has been charged with a total of about 80 crimes.
The use of cyanide is highly regulated in Thailand and those who use it without permission can be jailed for up to two years.
