The Last of Us
Now that House of the Dragon is over, HBO needs to start getting people excited about its next big shows, however far off they may be. Most are coming in 2025 and that includes The Last of Us season 2, which does not have a specific release date, but now does have a trailer, which you can see below:
It’s the first real footage we’ve seen for the show as before this, it’s really only been set leaks. We get a glimpse at some key characters, such as Isabela Merced’s Dina:

Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby:

And Bella Ramsey’s Ellie transformed into a rampaging war machine, even if she couldn’t get any taller between seasons like in the game.

Obviously that shot of Abby is blurry and brief, but it’s definitely her as that’s the sequence she’s being attacked and is saved by Joel and Tommy. Dever remains a fascinating pick for Abby as yes, you can kind of see it, compared to the game character, though she looks more like game Ellie and we know she previously read for that part. So it’s a really interesting situation. What we do not know is if Dever has tried to get Abby-level jacked for the role, and this shot certainly is not clarifying that. I’m not sure it’s all that important given that she’s already bigger than Bella Ramsey.
It is impossible to discuss any more about season 2 of The Last of Us without getting into very big game spoiler territory, so turn back now if you don’t know what I’m about to say.
Well, Pedro Pascal really needs his schedule freed up to star in everything from Fantastic Four to Gladiator 2, and as such, we know that he should be killed off very soon into season 2, clubbed by Abby as revenge for him killing her surgeon Firefly father years earlier.
One question has been how long the show may drag this out. If it happens in episode 1 as a big shock to those who don’t know it’s coming, or if they make it 2-3 episodes in before they do it. We know that Part 2 of the game is being broken into two seasons, so they do have some time. I do not buy the idea they would do an entire season before they get to that part as some have theorized. Just no way.
We don’t know when this will hit in 2025, but season 1 aired in January of 2023. It’s certain then that we are looking at over two years between seasons, if not two and a half. That’s streaming these days. More info soon.
