Rainn Wilson can’t believe his eyes when a fire destroys a large part of his home.
The 58-year-old “The Office” alum recently gave his followers a look at the damage caused by the fire that “almost burned down” his California residence in the Ventura County mountain blaze last month.
Wilson maintained a positive attitude when reflecting on the incident, saying that his property was “pretty severely damaged, but we got to keep our house,” which is more than some of his neighbors can say.
He praised his wife, Holliday Reinhorn, for making sure their animals and beloved pigs, Amy and Snorty, got out safely.
“We are some of the luckiest people in Ventura County. “The mountain fire was absolutely devastating and two of our closest neighbors completely lost their homes,” Wilson wrote in an Instagram post on Nov. 11.
“@HolidayReinhorn took our pigs and various animals out with the help of our assistant Lisa and our assistant Scott who were out there installing some new door knobs,” he explained.
He later said he had “a new appreciation and respect for the power and destruction of wildfires” and asked for “prayers for the good Venturans devastated by this terrible event.”
In an updated post on your official “Soul Boom” Podcast Account From Friday, December 13, Wilson walks through his burned home and shows the damage.
“Well, this is not something I ever thought I would do,” Wilson said, showing “the remains of my bedroom and my closet and my bathroom” on camera.
“There’s some kind of valuable lesson here. I’m not sure what it is,” he admitted. “Death and fire teach you a lesson about the impermanence of life and the preciousness of what we have.”
“It’s all a bit much for me,” Wilson shared, adding that he “gets so overwhelmed that my brain just goes offline — I can barely process it.”
Wilson then asked his followers to leave a comment telling them what life lessons they should learn from the disaster.
“Among the ashes is sometimes the place where we best consider what is truly of value in our lives. In moments of loss, what lessons have you learned about what matters most? Ended the caption.
In 1995, the actor married Reinhorn, a fiction writer. The couple have one adult child: 20-year-old son Walter McKenzie Wilson.
“The Office” star isn’t the only celebrity to be affected by recent fires.
Cher, 78, and Dick Van Dyke, 99, were forced to evacuate their home after a fire broke out in Malibu last week.
The Post obtained exclusive photos of their properties that survived the fire.
