The Olympics have come and gone once again, as the games just ended a few days ago. All things connected to the event, held every two years, become massively popular worldwide whenever they return. This time around, that includes the music that soundtracked some of the television coverage—or at least, that used to.
This week, the song that millions heard playing during the games has become a hit. The tune isn’t a serious smash, but it does appear on one Billboard chart, as it became popular enough in one way right before the games concluded.
“The Olympic Theme” debuts on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 this week. The tally, introduced by Billboard in 2023, ranks the most popular and most used tracks on TikTok, which has become hugely important in the American music industry in the past few years.
On the latest edition of the TikTok-only roster, “The Olympic Theme” opens at No. 32. The track is credited to composer Paul Brooks, who appears to reach this list for the first time. In fact, “The Olympic Theme” might be his debut placement on any Billboard tally.
“The Olympic Theme” ranks as the fifth-highest debut on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 this week. Brooks’ memorable composition comes in behind new arrivals from JT of City Girls, Gucci Mane, and even NSYNC. The boy band also earns their first placement on the roster with “Bye Bye Bye,” which has become hugely popular once again following its usage in the movie Deadpool & Wolverine.
While it’s a top 40 hit at the moment, it’s unlikely that “The Olympic Theme” will stick around for very long. There’s a good chance that the track will vanish from even the one Billboard tally it’s present on in just a few days. Interest in all things Olympics is quickly dying down, and that will almost certainly lead to the cut not being used in as many TikTok videos.
