Theresa Nist has some golden tips for Joan Vasos.
The “Golden Bachelor” winner, 71, revealed his conversation with Vasos, 61, ahead of his first season of “The Golden Bachelorette.”
“I have spoken to her,” Nist told The Post exclusively. “I spoke to her before she left, and I will say that I am very excited. Joan is beautiful, she has a beautiful heart and she has a great mind.”
The Golden Girls chatted about how Vasos should approach the men in the Bachelor Nation mansion who are looking for love.
The reality star added, “So what we talked about was that she would give each guy her full attention to see if there was a connection. That's what we talked about.”
“I said, 'Joan, you know, just really pay attention to them, really look at them, really consider this,'” Nist said. “Her dynamic is totally different than mine. I was one of 22 women vying for the attention of one man, and she was the center of attention, and we had 24 men vying for her attention.”
It's a once in a lifetime experience if you ask Nist.
“So it's an incredible position. And she understands it. She knows what a huge opportunity it is, and she knows she represents women everywhere,” the financial expert said. “So, she's humble about it and I would say any woman in that room and other women around the world deserves this. It's an awesome opportunity. I'm so thrilled for her.”
But Nist also has advice for contestants who are ready to give love that golden chance.
“I would say just really try to be yourself and try to pretend like there's no camera there and try to pretend like this is real life, because it is real life,” she said.
“And it's hard because you have people with sound, and you have cameras, so you have to try to block all that out and just show yourself authentically and really, again, try to connect and see if there's really something with this person.”
What's Nist's biggest lesson from her time on “The Golden Bachelor”? As the New Jersey native says, “There's so much more to life. There's so much more opportunity. That I'm not old!”
“I still have a lot left in me. And I want to do more. I'm not really satisfied with what I was doing before. I really want to go out there and do more. This has awakened something inside me,” Nist said.
In 2023, viewers watched Nist and “Golden Bachelor” star Gerry Turner get engaged at the end of the season before tying the knot on television in January.
Three months later, they both confirmed that it was over”Good Morning America” during a joint interview.
But despite their separation, Nist has no regrets about doing the show.
“Honestly, it was the most incredible experience of my life,” he told the Post. “It changed me. If it didn't change you in some way, you'd be numb. So it made me more alive. More willing to embrace life.”
However, Nist would like to If I get a chance again, some things can be done differently.
“I think the advice I would give to men is the same as the advice I would give to myself,” the mother reflected. “Try to be more yourself. When the incident with Kathy (Swart) happened I went into my shell a little bit. So, I think the advice for me is: I could be more authentically myself. It was a little difficult for me but I eventually got over it and I became more myself.”
Tensions between Nyst and Swarts, 71, escalated when the winner returned from a date with Turner and spilled all the sweet stuff at home. However, this wasn't the replay the “Golden Hour” podcast host wanted.
“I don't want to hear that. I think she thinks she can do it all,” Swarts said in her confessional.
Nist apologized and said she didn't mean to intentionally brag about her date, but her friend said she “didn't believe it.”
The two women put their fight aside and rekindled their friendship. Swarts even attended Nist and Turner's wedding.
