Although her rose wilted, Theresa Nyst has no hard feelings toward Gerry Turner.
Becoming a first-time “Golden Bachelor” winner is no small feat, and it's a journey that the 71-year-old Nist doesn't take lightly. And although she and the 72-year-old “Golden Bachelor” star have gone their separate ways, she wishes him the best.
“So Gerry and I have talked,” Nist told The Post exclusively. “We don’t talk on a regular basis. I would say I wish him all the best, and I can see he has a lot of friends, and I’m very happy for him that he has those friends.”
The New Jersey native also hopes Turner takes another chance at love.
“I really hope he finds his soulmate because that's what he wants and that's what he deserves, and I'm praying for him. I'm with him,” Nist said.
And the finance mogul is also looking for love again.
“Oh my God, yes. Yes! Yes!” Nyst said. “I think we should live this life with a partner. It's so much fun. There are so many things I want to do, and I think it would be so much fun to do with a partner, so I'm all for it.”
But there are some exceptions to this golden rule.
“I can't try all the old ways I did before,” she admitted. “I don't think I can go on a dating app at the moment, so I don't know if someone will magically fall out of the sky, but I'm definitely open to it.”
And if the perfect mate drops by on top, Nist knows exactly what she’s looking for.
“A sense of humor,” she said. “Let's laugh together. Smart. Someone smart. And then I have to be physically attracted to that person, so there has to be chemistry. And that's something you can't define, it's undefined. You're either attracted to someone, or you're not.”
“It’s the ability to have fun together, support each other, make each other laugh and be there for each other,” Nist said.
Meanwhile, Nist is perfectly content with her day-to-day life.
“After the show, I got back to my normal life, spending time with my family and friends, and back to work,” she confessed. “So it's the same normal routine that I was doing before. And I've actually been spending a lot of time working on my house. I've been painting, I've been gardening and I've really been keeping myself busy. I've been enjoying Jersey Shore.”
And, of course, Nist made time to visit her best friend Leslie Fima, the runner-up on Season 1 of “The Golden Bachelor.”
When asked who she's closest to during her time in the Bachelor mansion, Nyst replied: “Absolutely, definitely Leslie.”
“We formed a connection early on in the show. We gravitated toward each other. He taught me some exercise routines. We would go on walks together, and cook for each other,” she added. “So, after the show, I tried to reconnect, and we finally connected. It's too bad we don't live near each other because we used to be together every night. But we talk all the time.”
Viewers first met Nist in Bachelor Nation's first-ever edition of “The Golden Bachelor” in 2023, where the retired restaurant owner became the main man looking for love after the death of his wife Toni. By the end of the season, Nist and Turner were engaged and tied the knot on television in January.
Three months later, in April, the two confirmed that it was over”.Good Morning America,
“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart talks, and we've taken a close look at our situation, our living situation and so on, and we've come to the mutual conclusion that it's probably time for us to end our marriage,” Turner said in a joint appearance with Nist.
