They’re covering their bases.
Yankees fans are the most superstitious of the 30 Major League Baseball teams, according to a new study.
Every one of the 273 Pinstripers surveyed by Casino.org admitted to at least one of a dozen gameday rituals, including avoiding betting on the Yankees, dressing up in certain clothing or imitating players’ routines.
Nearly 42% admitted to wearing a particular color to help the Bronx Bombers clinch wins, while 18% admitted to wearing lucky garments such as special underwear or an unwashed shirt.
Another 7% refuse to watch games with friends and family they believe are jinxes.
“When it comes to rituals, superstition, we’re at the top of the food chain,” bragged “Blue Bloods” actor and veteran Yankees fan Nick Turturro, who has had family members sit in certain furniture in his house in an effort to shift games’ outcomes.
A few years ago, Turturro believes he helped the Bombers come back and beat the Cleveland Guardians in their series by switching to watching the games in Spanish.
“I changed from Bob Costas — I obliterated him — and we started winning,” he said
A handful fans also admitted to rubbing a lucky token, avoiding certain foods, and refusing to sit in seats or sections with the number “13.”
Yankee diehards’ woo-woo practices earned them an astounding 91% superstition score, blasting past the Toronto Blue Jays (65%) and the Boston Red Sox (56%).
Across town, Mets fans are a little more grounded, tying for 10th most superstitious fan base in MLB, at 25%.
They fessed up to practicing some of nine rituals to give the Amazins’ a boost from afar — although it doesn’t appear to have been much help this season.
