This one Harvard method can help you make better decisions that’ll lead to success

Amanda Reill wrote about it for Harvard Business Review in an article titled A Simple Way to Make Better Decisions, which touches on what we can do to make better decisions and achieve goals.

According to Reill, there is a simple “trick” that can help all types of people with the decision-making process, think more clearly, understand priorities, and things to work on, and even set goals. She recommends a practice known as “morning pages” which emerged as a practice designed for artists to get out of a block, fuel their creativity, develop ideas, and more.

Reill says that this practice not only benefits artists but can help anyone, in any profession, to better organize their ideas, have clarity, and make decisions more efficiently that can yield better results.

For many people who make multiple decisions in a day, it causes their brains to go into autopilot mode, leading to the loss of important information. Reill says practicing morning pages allows you to get off autopilot and live with more intention, which positively affects the way you make decisions.

How are morning pages made?

This is also known as journaling, and it consists of starting the day by taking a sheet of paper or a notebook, where you have to write whatever comes to mind, your main doubts, your insecurities, the challenges of the day, the ideas that arise, your plans for the day or anything else.

The idea is that what you write helps you understand yourself better, to know what you want, what is important to you, and what you can do to be better prepared and to achieve what you set out to do.

This allows you to put things in perspective and even be more organized and aware of what you want and what you are looking for. The important thing is that you do it every day, as a way to review your progress, and your goals and learn to think before acting.
