When we talk about Marvel movies, one of the most favorite characters in the entire franchise is Thor, the God of Thunder. He has appeared in four solo projects and five avengers movies By now, and for all good reason, he is truly known the mightiest avengerSo, if you’re a Thor fan or someone who wants to introduce yourself to the vast story behind the character, here’s how to watch all the Thor movies.
1. Thor (2011)
The 2011 Thor film was Chris Hemsworth’s debut in the role of Thor and the rest is history in the making. The film revolves around Thor Odinson being exiled from his kingdom by Odin, stripped of all his powers, and deemed unworthy of wielding Mjolnir. He is sent to Earth where he meets Jane Foster and her team whom he manages to convince that he is the real Thor from Norse mythology. However, as he tries to become worthy of his hammer once again on Asgard, Loki is plotting to kill him and take the throne for himself.
2. Avengers (2012)
The release of The Avengers in 2012 kicked off one of the best superhero franchises of all time, which is still going strong, even with Marvel failing several times along the way. The film, for the first time, brought together all the heroes that the Marvel Cinematic Universe had introduced till then and some new ones too.
In the film, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye come together to stop Loki from taking over the world with his alien army and a scepter containing the Mind Stone. This film is also the first time we are introduced infinity stone And gave a start to the Infinity Saga in the MCU.
3. Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Thor: The Dark World takes us to a time when Asgard and the Dark Elves went to war with each other. After Asgard was victorious, the Aether, the final weapon of the Dark Elves, was buried in a secret location. After hundreds of years have passed, somehow, Jane Foster managed to find the Aether and it merged with her body.
Now, the Dark Elves have returned to destroy all nine realms and claim their long-lost weapon to protect Jane and extract the weapon from her body. Thor brings him to Asgard but leaving the Dark Elves is not so easy which leads to an uneasy alliance between Loki and Thor, leading to their further relationship as brothers.
4. Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
The next film in which Thor appears is Avengers: Age of Ultron which was released in 2015. The film brings us Ultron, an Artificial Intelligence system created by Tony Stark who thinks humanity is a threat to itself and makes it his mission to wipe them out of existence.
This film marks the first time Vision was introduced to us and the first time Wanda made her cinematic debut. Age of Ultron is notorious for how it represented Quicksilver and how he died under easily avoidable circumstances, which contributed to the poor reception the film received.
5. Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
In my opinion, Thor Ragnarok is the best Thor movie out of all those titles. The film shows us that Loki has taken on the form of his father Odin and ascended the throne of Asgard as an impostor. When Thor finds out about this, he takes Loki to show him where Odin is, and when they find him, Odin is moments away from peacefully crossing over to the other side. However, as soon as Odin is out of the picture, Odin’s first child Hela arrives and promptly destroys Thor’s hammer.
The rest of the film revolves around Thor and Loki being trapped with the Grandmaster and trying to find a way back to Asgard to prevent Ragnarok, Asgard’s destruction. Thor Ragnarok has some of the best action sequences you’ll ever see in a Marvel movie, with just the right amount of humor and the natural, brotherly chemistry between Loki and Thor.
6. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
In Avengers Infinity War, the second final chapter of the Infinity Saga, Thor gains a new weapon, the Stormbreaker Axe, after his hammer is destroyed. In this movie, we get to see that Thor has lost almost everything he has and is out for Thanos’ blood.
Thor doesn’t appear until the final battle scene of the film and wreaks havoc on Thanos’ army. However, when it came time to kill Thanos, he injured him very badly but made a mistake and we all know what happened after that.
7. Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Avengers Endgame was the final chapter of the Infinity Saga and brought us a Thor who is extremely depressed and has completely let go of himself when it comes to his body, ironically making him a more mythologically accurate Thor. Has gone. In this movie, we see that Tony Stark finds a way to travel through time and collects all the Infinity Stones from different parts of time and uses them to bring back all the people that Thanos killed. Was removed by the end of Infinity War.
However, things go wrong, and even though the Avengers succeed in bringing everyone back, an alternate version of Thanos leads to a legendary final battle, one of the most emotional scenes in the entire Avengers franchise. , Tony’s death. Stark.
8. Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Of all the Thor movies he’s been a part of for live-action Marvel, Thor Love and Thunder is, in my opinion, the worst adaptation of the character I’ve ever seen on screen. This movie turned Thor into a comedy and the only good aspect of this movie was the transformation of Gorr, the God Butcher, brought to the screen by none other than Christian Bale.
The plot of this movie was poorly presented, the costume design was great and overall, it was a bad movie in almost every way. However, the only good thing I will say about Thor Love and Thunder is how it introduced us to Hercules who may play the main antagonist in the next Thor movie.
