Tim Burton To Get Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Tim Burton—the director of such classics as Batman, Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands—is set to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Hollywood star honor will come just days before the release of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to the director’s 1988 hit Beetlejuice.

According to NBC Los Angeles, Burton will be honored in a ceremony on September 3 in Los Angeles. The outlet said the star will be installed at 6600 Hollywood Boulevard in front of Hollywood Toys & Costume.

NBC LA reported that Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder will speak at the Walk of Fame ceremony, which is set for 11 a.m. PT.

Keaton and Ryder both star in Burton’s original Beetlejuice and its upcoming sequel. Keaton also starred in Burton’s two Batman films and Dumbo, while Ryder starred in Edward Scissorhands and voiced a role in the director’s stop-motion animated version of Frankenweenie.

Original Beetlejuice star Catherine O’Hara also stars in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, along with Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci and Justin Theroux.

Recent Hollywood star recipients included Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and film and television star Vince Vaughn.

Burton’s Feature Directorial Debut Dates Back Nearly Four Decades

Tim Burton’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame comes nearly 40 years after his feature film directorial debut with Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, starring the late Paul Reubens.

In addition to directing Beetlejuice and its sequel, Batman and its first sequel and Edward Scissorhands, Burton has directed such films as Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, Dark Shadows, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Dumbo.

In addition to directing the stop-motion animated film Vincent, Burton’s stop-motion features include Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie. Burton co-directed Corpse Bride with Mike Johnson and was a solo director on Frankenweenie, which was a stop-motion remake of his live-action short film original.

Burton also wrote the story for and produced the stop-motion classic The Nightmare Before Christmas, which was directed by Henry Selick.

Among Burton’s frequent collaborators over the years is Johnny Depp, whom he directed in eight of his films. Burton’s former partner Helena Bonham Carter, like Depp, appeared in eight of Burton’s movies.

Meanwhile, Burton’s frequent composer, Danny Elfman, has scored 17 of the director’s films including Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, as well as the Burton-produced The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Burton is the focus of an untitled documentary series that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in June.

In addition to his film work, Burton is an executive producer and director on the smash Netflix series Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega.

Burton’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony is scheduled for September 3 while Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will be released in theaters nationwide on September 6.
