In case you missed Wednesday’s NYT Mini Crossword puzzle, you can find the answers here:
Friday! At last! This is my last day on the Mini Crossword guides for the next couple of weeks. I pass the torch to Kris Holt, then it goes to Paul Tassi and then back to me. However, I will be doing my daily Wordle guides and soon back on Strands guides as well, so definitely follow me on this blog for all the puzzle guides (and much more!).
Alright, let’s solve this Mini!
The Mini is a smaller, quicker, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its larger sibling, it’s free-to-play without a subscription to The New York Times. You can play it on the web or the app, though you’ll need the app to tackle the archive.
While some of today’s words are pretty simple, some might have you stumped. You’ll find the answers below. Spoilers ahead, obviously. Skip ahead for the image of today’s solved puzzle.
ACROSS
1. Move like a kangaroo — HOP
4. Purple soda flavor — GRAPE
6. Bird used for sending messages on “house of the dragon” — RAVEN
7. Oak tree-to-be — ACORN
8. What half-life measures, in nuclear physics — DECAY
DOWN
1. Pandemonium — HAVOC
2. Performance for a prima donna — OPERA
3. Take a ___ to a ___ — PENNY
4. Mortarboard wearer — GRAD
5. A dash is a short one — RACE
All told, a pretty doable Mini Crossword today. I had never heard the term “mortarboard wearer” before so I just let that fill in with other words. My expert knowledge of all things Game of Thrones made 6 Across a breeze. The only other one that got me for a minute was 3 Down. Take a PENNY leave a PENNY. How old-fashioned!
How did you do on today’s Mini Crossword? Let me know on Twitter and Facebook.
If you also play Wordle, I write guides about that as well. You can find those and all my TV guides, reviews and much more here on my blog. Thanks for reading!
